The program's interface is intuitive, with several different easy-to-use sections. In one section users select the images they want to include in the slideshow, in another they can select a theme--birthday, breaking news, etc.--that will frame each image, in a third they can edit captions and other text, and in the fourth, a preview of the slideshow can be viewed. Users can select the transition effects that are used between each of the images or allow the program to select them randomly, and music can be added to the presentations as well.
Once users are satisfied with the slideshow's appearance and audio, it can be processed into several different formats, including MPG, AVI, and WMV. A built-in Help file is fairly well-written and does a good job of explaining how the program works. Overall, although there was nothing particularly outstanding about it, we liked Ashampoo Slideshow Studio HD because it was easy to use and produced an attractive slideshow. It's not the best of the best, but it will meet the needs of most users.
